Handwritten is believe it or not The Gaslight Anthem’s fourth full-length, but first release on a major record label (Mercury for those of you playing at home). On their previous record American Slang (which was a major pinnacle in their career) it was obvious The Gaslight Anthem were going for a more American wholesome rock sound in the vain of the boss, Bob Dylan and just about any major influential artist attributed to keeping good old fashioned American rock alive and veering away from that pop-punk meets rock sound.
