Final Decision: Saints Row IV Refused Classification in Australia

Published - - Posted in Gaming

After being refused classification by the Australian review board and then re-submitted, Saints Row 4 has been once and for all refused classification in its current form in Australia.

The main issue preventing it from being granted classification is the use of drugs with positive effects and rewards. Remind me again what the hell the point was of Australia even getting an 18+ rating if games can be refused classification because of drug use.

Deep Silver are reworking the game for re-submission with the offending content removed, so don’t fret, Australia will still get Saints Row IV, it’ll just be a watered down version of the real thing. And the games industry and Governments wonder why people pirate games?

In the words of the almighty classification board:

In the Review Board’s opinion, Saints Row IV could not be accommodated within the R 18+ classification as drug use related to incentives and rewards is not permitted.

Yay censorship, I feel safer already…
