The Day Brisbane Music Died: Rave Magazine to cease distribution after 21 years

A pinnacle staple in the Brisbane music scene responsible for telling everyone what’s on through to their popular band classifieds for the past 21 years is coming to an end. Publisher Colin Rankin hasn’t ruled out a new owner being able to rescue the magazine, but nothing is definite and at this stage it’s safe to assume that Rave is dead due to declining print advertising revenues in the last 12 months. Although I never read the articles much, Rave was beneficial in helping me find musicians for my band projects and bands to join in the Brisbane scene.

This is one of the worse days for the Brisbane music scene since Joh Bjelke-Petersen destroyed the music scene in the late 80’s/early 90’s by closing nightclubs and rezoning everything.
