The transformation is complete: All Shall Perish have just achieved their life goal of becoming Lars Ulrich of Metallica. A lawsuit was filed in a Miami, FL federal courthouse last week on the groups behalf by World Digital a Panamanian company that licenses the bands music. The suit seeks to unmask the identities of around 80-100 IP addresses who supposedly downloaded their last album ‘This Is Where It Ends’ via BitTorrent.
Just when you thought the music industry was going forwards, bands like All Shall Perish stuck in the past start suing people who were never going to buy their music anyway. The lawsuit alleges that each of the defendants be held “jointly and severally liable for the direct infringement of each other defendant” and seeks statutory damages of $150,000 per offender. Their last album was probably lucky if it made $150,000 in sales let alone the $150,000 per offender price tag they’re asking for. Even if they get 80 offenders to pay $150,000 that’s a total of 12 million, what makes them think their music is worth that much or ever would have made that much?
Fuck you, All Shall Perish: adapt or die, we can only hope that you do die off as many people haven’t heard of you anyway and your last album kind of sucked in comparison to some of your earlier music.
